The Daytona Beach News-Journal is seeking nominations for the 20th Annual Volusia-Flagler 40 Under Forty Awards to be held on March 25, 2026 at Daytona State College Mori Hosseini Center College of Hospitality Management.
Nominations will be accepted November 16, 2025 – January 11, 2026. Forty young professionals will be selected from all nominations, and the top award winners will be chosen by a select panel of judges.
Top awards will be presented to the following categories:
All nominees will receive a request to complete a questionnaire. This is to ensure that we have accurate information on each nominee when making the selections, and for the event and special feature. The information you supply will be used by The Daytona Beach News-Journal - accuracy is key.
Once selected, nominees will receive a separate message from our events division confirming they have been selected as one of the forty honorees. They will also receive information to secure their complimentary ticket.

Young Professional of the Year -

The nominee should be someone advancing rapidly in their career, demonstrating potential for future leadership, and regarded as a role model for young professionals in the Volusia-Flagler area.
Young Small Business Professional of the Year -
This award is for a young professional who is employed by, owns, or manages a small business with fewer than 50 employees. The nominee should demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and strong community involvement, contributing to the growth and success of their business while making a positive impact on the local community.
Young Local Government Officer of the Year -
This award recognizes a young local government officer who shows exceptional volunteerism and community involvement. The nominee's volunteer hours and specific projects should highlight their role as a change agent making the community a better place, showcasing their dedication to public service and community improvement.
Most Charitable Young Professional of the Year -
This award honors a young professional who demonstrates outstanding volunteerism and community involvement. The nominee should provide exceptional support through both monetary contributions and volunteer service to local non-profit organizations, exemplifying a commitment to philanthropy and making a significant difference in the lives of others.
